Ransom Jackson hit 150 homers in his pro baseball career, including 103 in the majors. Based on reviews of his new book, Handsome Ransom Jackson: Accidental Big Leaguer, he has belted another out of the park, this one with the bases loaded – a grand slam.
“We can only hope that among today’s players there’s someone as sharp and funny as Handsome Ransom Jackson to remember them,” Allen Berra writes in the Chicago Tribune.
“Accidental Big Leaguer is funny and engaging oral baseball history, told from the inside.”
Publishers Weekly praises Jackson’s “folksy, unassuming account” of his life in college football and baseball and the major leagues, adding he “shows no ego or arrogance when he writes candidly: ‘I’m a lucky guy, lucky to be the right guy in the right place at the right time.’”
