Let’s Do Three!

“Let’s play two!” was a catchphrase made famous by Ernie Banks, also known as Mr. Cub.
Now, Mr. Cub’s sidekick at third base from late 1953 through the 1955 season is telling sports talk hosts, “Let’s do three!”That’s what Handsome Ransom Jackson suggested to Steve Kaplowitz near the end of his Sportstalk show August 8 on KROD-AM, ESPN 600 in El Paso, Texas.

Kaplowitz likes the idea so he’s going to have Ransom back a third time to talk about “the Mafia guy” and Lew Burdette, a pitcher for the Milwaukee Braves widely suspected of throwing a spit ball, an illegal pitch. Ransom writes about Burdette and Mafia boss “Big Nose” Sam Cufari in his book, Handsome Ransom Jackson: Accidental Big Leaguer.

Ransom’s first appeared on Sportstalk June 13:

In the second interview, Ransom discussed Alex Rodriguez’ retirement; Ichiro Suzuki reaching the 3,000 hit milestone and performance enhancing drugs as well as mixing baseball and golf.

Stay tune for round three.
